Information for Promoters & Clubs

Race Marshals Victoria provide Flag Marshals for Motorcycling Road Racing Events held primarily in Victoria. Any requests for other race event officials such as Stewards and Clerk of Course must be made through Motorcycling Victoria/Motorcycling Australia for any affiliated Clubs and Promoters.

We have provided Flag Marshaling at other non Motorcycling Road Racing events and can be contacted for other events however our first priority will be for Motorcycling Road Racing Events.

Prior to the Event

Ideally Promoters and Clubs should notify Race Marshals Victoria at the start of each Race Calender year when events are being scheduled to run.

Information supplied should include:

  • Dates of Events and event duration
  • Organising Club
  • Event and Number
  • Venue
  • Approximate number of expected entries
  • Contact details for event organiser

Within a whole calendar month of the event, and preferably before the first Tuesday of the month prior to the event:

  • Confirmation of the event
  • Copy of the Supplementary Regulations to be emailed to secretary@rmv.org.au
  • Any special circumstances or requirements considered appropriate

During the Event

The Promoter or Club is expected to provide the following during the event:

  • Appropriately equipped Recovery Team for the duration of the event
  • Schedule of events for each Flag Marshal and Chief Flag Marshal
  • Bottled water and a snack bag for each Flag Marshal each day of the event (we recommend a small bag of chips, lollies and a piece of fruit)
  • Lunch for each Flag Marshal each day of the event
  • A scheduled lunch break each day of the event to allow marshals some free time and the ability to use facilities
  •

The RMV Chief Marshal will hold a briefing for Flag Marshals at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each day's on-track activities. Other track-side volunteers (such as recovery teams) are invited to attend. The briefing will include a safety briefing, flag point allocation, radio and channel allocation and any other pertinent information.
